WHO ARE WE?
WE ARE your neighbors, coworkers and friends. You see us every day on the streets and in the stores of Lawton. We usually don't stand out in a crowd and we are as unnoticeable as any other citizens of our city.
Like a great number of Lawtonians, we are spiritually minded, church-going people. We believe that we must practice what we preach and be what we say we are. We also believe it is important to share our faith with others who might be interested.
The first word in our name is Lawton because this is where we live, work and worship. We take the name Church of God because it is biblical. We are non-denominational and non-sectarian. We identify with the historical Church of God Reformation but we are not attached to a particular movement or group descended from that movement.
A Church of God hymn writer wrote long ago, "We reach our hands in fellowship to every blood-washed one." We believe strongly in this statement and the underlying biblical truth. We extend Christian fellowship to any and all who have experienced salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ.1 We believe in and follow the biblical mandate to endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace until we all come to the unity of the faith.2
If you are a fellow Christian looking for what we have to offer, you are cordially invited to contact us and visit our services. We hope that with us you will find a spiritual home of like-minded people who genuinely care for you and are interested in your spiritual well-being.
If you are not a Christian, we invite you to come to our services, listen to the teaching of the Bible and ask the questions you might have. We promise to treat you with respect and never to force you to do things that might embarrass or be insulting to you.
