OUR
PURPOSE
Our
purpose is to build a lasting fellowship of people who love God and are serious
about living for Him. To accomplish our purpose, we apply ourselves to serious
study of the Scriptures, to importuning prayer, and to meaningful fellowship
with God’s people.
We are objective and non-sectarian in our
interpretation and use of the Scriptures. We believe in the essential doctrines
of Christianity, which are: (1) belief in the Trinity, (2) the incarnation of
God in the person of Jesus, (3) the inerrancy and divine inspiration of
Scripture, (4) salvation from sin by grace through faith the blood of Jesus
Christ, and (5) the imminent return of Christ together with the final
consummation at the end of the world.
We respect all who profess faith in Jesus Christ
regardless of their church or denominational affiliations or backgrounds. We
believe in the free exchange of ideas and beliefs between Christians and that
people should tolerate their differences until they come to the unity of the
faith. We do not believe in proselyting but we do believe in inviting people to
visit our services.
We have a passion for those who do not know Jesus
Christ as their savior. It is not our intention to humiliate or to intimidate
non-believers, but rather we want to share with them the good news of redemption
and the possibility of their personal deliverance from guilt and sin. At no time
will we ever force or coerce people into decisions or confessions they do not
want to make.
We make a serious effort to live holy lives and to
be blameless before God. In saying this, we are not saying that we believe we
are better than other people or that we do not have any personal faults. We do
not believe that holiness is found in legalism or fanaticism. We believe that
holiness is simply a matter of obeying God. We believe that it is possible to
live consistently holy because of the indwelling Holy Spirit assisting our human
will and the fact that God really makes a way for people to face and overcome
personal temptation as promised in Scripture. (1 Corinthians 10:13, NKJV. No
temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is
faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but
with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to
bear it.)
